How to store tomatoes?

Here's are some interesting facts that I stumbled upon today about tomatoes:

The best way to keep your tomatoes fresh, tender and red is to store them in a dark, cool and dry place instead of refrigerating them. This will prevent the fruit from getting bruises and the skin wont get shriveled up as fast as it would in the fridge. The taste of the tomato will also remain rich.

However, if you do decide to refrigerate the tomatoes, make sure to leave it out in room temperature for about an hour or so. Your best bet is to freeze the fruit, since the flavor and texture will be much better! Before freezing, make sure to rinse and dry them.

Tip: When selecting tomatoes at the market, use your nose. Smell the blossom (not stem) end. The most flavorful ones will have a rich tomato aroma.
